An early frontiersman welcomes onlookers to a view of a bend in the Ohio River, which will one day become the location of Steubenville, Ohio.

The painted sculptural elements on either side of the arch depict the town’s domestic and industrial development. A contemporary family, represented above, is the benefactor of this rich history.
