Dominating the main square of town, this once gray, soiled wall
and gravel parking lot have become both a dramatic entrance to the
city as well as a backdrop for numerous concerts and civic events.
Over 80 local citizens posed for the figures in the mural, which
depicts this same square early in the last century.
“Great way to restore the original beauty
of our town. Sad to see so many buildings being torn down for progress,
but you have brought them back.”
Bob Denzer,
Mt. Vernon, Ohio
“I’m speechless and proud. What
a wonderful tribute to Bucyrus.”
Barb
Cotsamire, Bucyrus, Ohio
“I used to look at this blank lot and
this bleak wall and say ‘no way.’ If art is something
that takes us back in time, this is a perfect example. You can almost
walk into it.”
Jack
Timken, President, Timken Foundation
“It gives downtown back to the community
emotionally.”
Suzanne
Blank, Bucyrus, Ohio
“The mural is exactly the centerpiece
that we needed for our downtown revitalization project.”
Deb Pinion,
Executive Director, Bucyrus Chamber of Commerce
“The artwork has brought the local economy
back to life.”
Tracy
Turner, The Columbus Dispatch
“The Crossroads mural and adjacent park
have provided citizens a place to gather for a wide variety of events,
from sing-a-longs to weddings to memorial services during the 9/11
crisis.”
Janet
Pry, Executive Director, Bucyrus Area Community Foundation
